The director of the Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy (BIRD), Sayed Ahmed Al-Wadaei, confirmed that calls between political prisoners in Jaw prison and their families are still cut off until Tuesday (May 16, 2023), as a result of the assault incident against prisoner which took place two days ago.

The Bahrain Forum for Human Rights affirmed that it is normal not to trust the followed official procedures after complaints were issued about assaults on prisoners as a result of the previous policies of the Jaw Central Prison administration in dealing with prisoners of conscience, including those sentenced to death.
