Residents of the area were surprised to see bulldozers demolishing the historic endowment of the Shiite mosque and its surrounding fence, which dates back 500 years, located in the old Tubli area, also known as "Katakan".

In March 2023, conflicting reports indicated that the Minister of Follow-up at the Royal Court, Ahmed Atiyatullah, had been dismissed, and his brother, Salman Atiyatullah, relieved of his duty as head of the King Hamad Hospital.

The Bahraini regime's latest escalatory move in 2023 took the form of the arrest of Sheikh Mohammad Sanqour, the imam of the Imam Al-Sadiq Mosque in Diraz. This arrest evoked memories of the most intense escalation phase, marked by the arrest of Sheikh Ali Salman, the revocation of Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim's citizenship, and the closure of Al-Wefaq headquarters.
