    The High Appeals Criminal Court upheld a 5-year jail term against a Saudi national and fined him BD 1,000 for attempting to exchange $25,000 fake currency notes at Bahrain International Airport.

  • Arab National Sentenced to Death for Murdering an Asian National and Writing “O Hussein” on Wall to Put Blame on Shiites

    Members of the First High Criminal Court have unanimously agreed to impose the death penalty on a 41-year-old Arab national. He confessed that he had deliberately killed an Asian national just because he saw the latter in an intoxicated state. He followed him, determined to kill him, until he reached his home. He assaulted him by beating and strangling until the victim took his last breath while having both hands and feet tied.

  • Shiite Cleric Receives One-Year Jail Term over Charge of Defaming the Caliphs

    The Fourth Minor Criminal Court sentenced a Shiite cleric to one year in jail over "defaming" the Caliphs and the companions of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

  • 3-Year Jail Term Handed down to 4 Suspects Accused of Smuggling Wanted Person in Political Case via Land
    2019-07-03

    The First High Criminal Court handed down a 3-year jail to 4 suspects accused of smuggling a wanted person in political case since 2015 to outside Bahrain, using his brother's (second suspect) identity card without his knowledge. The court acquitted the second suspect of the charges brought against him.

    The High Appeals Criminal Court rejected the objection appeals presented by a defendant accused, along with 5 others, of causing a blast in Ma'ameer in 2015, and upheld the 10-year jail term issued by the first-instance court.

  • Trial of Saudis who Attempted to Smuggle Drugs via King Fahd Causeway Begins

    The first high criminal court began the trial of two young Saudis who attempted to smuggle 890 grams of narcotics through the King Fahd Causeway after hiding the bag in the glove compartment of the car. The court decided to adjourn the case to a hearing on July 8 to inform the defendants of the referral order.

  • Turkish Nationals Tried for Attempting to Travel from Bahrain to Britain with Forged Passports

    The first high criminal court decided to adjourn the case of two Turkish nationals accused of attempting to travel through Bahrain International Airport to Britain with forged passports and visas until July 9 to hear the statements of two Bahrain airport employees on the incident.

  • Case of 3 Bahraini Businessmen Accused of Assaulting Egyptian Advisor Adjourned until July 7

    The attorneys of the accused businessmen, including Nader Allawi, did not enter their closing plea on Monday (June 24, 2019) in the case in which their clients were accused of physically assaulting Egyptian national Yasser Al-Attar, legal advisor to the President of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, despite the fact that the court granted them time to enter their pleas during yesterday's session. The court decided to adjourn the case for ruling until the July 7th court session.

    The High Criminal Court commenced the trial of two Saudis who tried to use counterfeit money in 2018. 1400 counterfeit Saudi Riyals were seized from them.

    The First Lower Criminal Court adjourned the case of Egyptian advisor Yasser Al-Attar who is accused of inciting hatred against the Shiite sect.

  • Appeals Court Upholds Sentences Reaching Life Term, Citizenship Revocation against 5 Defendants in Political Case

    The Appeals Criminal Court upheld verdicts against 5 defendants in a political case. It upheld a life jail sentence against an appellant out of 7, 10-year jail term against 2, 5 year-jail term against a female suspect and 3-year jail term against the last one, as well as their citizenship revocation.

    The First High Appeals Criminal Court rejected the appeal of 3 defendants accused of hiding and harboring one of the wanted in a political and upheld the 3-year jail term issued against them.

  • Appeals: Jail Sentences Reaching Life Prison against 7 Defendants Accused of Causing Blast in Karana

    The Fifth High Appeals Court upheld the verdicts issued against 7 defendants accused of planting explosive under the ground in a sand field in Karana, alluring police forces to the scene and detonating it.

  • Court Upholds 10-Year Jail Term against Defendant Accused of Burning Policeman's Car in Karzakan
    2019-06-13

    The High Criminal Appeals Court upheld a 10-year jail verdict against a Bahraini accused of burning, along with another suspect, a policeman's car in Karzakan. The second suspect's verdict was earlier commuted to 5 year in jail. The court also bound both of the suspects to pay together 5804 BD for the damages they caused and ordered the confiscation of seized items.

  • Court Issues 15-Year Jail Term against 3, Including Woman over Charge of Smuggling Drugs from Saudi Arabia
    2019-06-11

    The First High Criminal Court sentenced 3 individuals from Gulf and Arab nationals, including a woman, to 15 years in jail and fined each of them BD 5000 over bringing in weeds and narcotics aiming at trafficking. The court ordered deporting the suspects after finishing their sentences.
